Principal's update - 31 January 2025
Posted 31st January 2025
Dear families
We've reached the end of week 4 of this term. What is it they say - time flies when you're having fun?!
This week Y7 and Y9 have begun their cycle assessments and have demonstrated great resilience and hard work throughout the week. Students have been well prepared by their teachers and provided with revision materials to support their success. The assessments will continue in to next week so please encourage your child to continue revising! As well as cycle assessments we've had a tough fixture in the Y8 netball, a third place finish in the Y8 basketball tournament and some excellent performances in the Y7 tag rugby tournament. As well as sport, our young journalists finished their training with the West Leeds Dispatch and our mathematicians tested their skills in the Intermediate Maths Challenge.
You will also have seen that this week we launched out October 2025 residential to France - did you get this from my (bad) clue?! Students who are interested should return the expression of interest as soon as possible to allow us to confirm the booking and begin collecting deposits.
Next week, alongside the cycle assessments, is sports heavy. We have fixtures for Y11s in football, Y9s in basketball, Y8s in athletics and Y10s in netball. A huge thanks to the PE department who are going above and beyond to provide these experiences to our students. Also next week we have vaccinations (details have been sent out separately) and a visit from another local academy trust CEO as we continue to share best practice on school improvement.
Finally, as some of you will know, Ms Crabtree will be going on maternity leave from February half term. A huge congratulations and best wishes to her. Mr Carrington will be stepping up to the Head of Phase role from this point and Ms Miller will move to support Y7 with their pastoral needs.
I hope that you all have a great weekend when it arrives!
Mr Jacobs
