Principal's Update - 29 November 2024
Posted 29th November 2024
Dear families
Happy Friday! We are at the end of a fantastic careers week. I wanted to share some of the incredible activities that our students have been taking part in this week:
- University talks in Morning Meeting for Y7
- Post-16 application support for Y11
- Guest speakers in Y9, Y10 and Y11
- Apprenticeship workshops for Y9
- Anne Frank workshops for Y8
- Leeds Mathematics School sessions for Y10 and Y11
- Input from the Grammar School at Leeds for Y11
- Creative challenges with Channel 4 for Y7 and Y8
- Northern Powergrid interventions for Y7 and Y11
- A talk from the University of Cambridge for Y9
And much, much more... It's been quite a week and students across the entire school including Connect and Reconnect have engaged so well with our external partners, Thank you Miss Smith and all the volunteers this week who have helped and supported.
As well as the incredible careers week, we've had Y8 and Y9 netball at DTC and Y8 football over at Dixons City. On Wednesday we also had an author, Rebecca Anderson, visit our library and I know so many of our students were inspired by her.
Next week we have a visit to Abbey Grange for a number of Y11 students as we continue to push post-16 applications, Y8 indoor athletics and Y7 to Y9 badminton. In addition, on Tuesday, we have our KS4 Open Evening. This is a fantastic opportunity to come and visit the school, see your child's teachers, talk about progress and look at their work. There are a range of information sessions happening and also opportunities to give feedback to the school - I am hoping for fantastic attendance! Finally, on Friday, we have a coach load of Y7s visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife Park as part of our student experience drive - I know they are very excited!
That's all from me this week, have a great weekend!
