Principal's Update - 28 June 2024

Posted 28th June 2024

Dear families

I hope that you have had a brilliant week and have been enjoying the sun. Thank you to students for their integrity around the uniform adjustments this week and for your support as families.

Every week is now a busy week at Dixons Unity. This week we had a visit from one of our local MP candidates, our Year 11 prom, visits to Notre Dame, primary sports leader events, primary transition visits, a visit to KPMG, various school leaders visiting and on top of that we have continued assessments for Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 - phew, what a week!

Next week continues to be busy with some exciting events coming up including primary transition days on Wednesday and Thursday, Year 10 student experience day on Friday, the Year 11 attendance recognition trip to Flamingo Land and a Year 10 visit to London to visit some election candidates (including the leaders of the main parties!). How we are fitting all of that in I don't know but I am grateful to the colleagues who are making this all happen and providing so many wonderful opportunities to our students.

I want to draw your attention to two events the week after next. The first is the renewed launch of our parent forum. This will be taking place on Tuesday evening and involve a presentation on literacy (and how to support your child at home with their literacy) and our new attitude to learning grades that will be introduced next year. The evening will also be an opportunity to feedback on any issues around the academy. The event is an open invite to all families and it would be great to see as many of you there as possible. The second event I want to remind you of is the recognition evening which for Cycle 3 is taking place at the White Rose Banqueting Suite a week on Thursday, invites are on their way and it would be great to see 100% of those invited, in attendance.

As always I will close by saying thank you for your support. We have 3 weeks to go to continue to work hard and confirm this year as the best since we became a Dixons academy. We can do this!
