Principal's update - 22 November 2024

Posted 22nd November 2024

Dear families

We have reached the end of Week 11 and it has been a cold one!

Alongside our normal plethora of sporting fixtures including football and netball we have had our first ever bowling tournament! 19 schools competed and our students finished a respectable 4th. A huge well done to them! We have also finished our Y11 Mock Exam window this week, students have demonstrated great grit and determination in what has been a busy fortnight.

Next week we have our careers week where students will experience a range of activities designed to help keep their aspirations on track and inspire them to achieve in their chosen careers. Activities include workshops from Channel 4 and visits to a range of local businesses. A huge thank you to Ms Smith for her work in organising this. Alongside this, we have a number of sporting fixtures including Y8/9 netball and Y8 football.

A final reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) is our Winter Fayre, taking place from 11am to 2pm it would be great to see as many families there as possible!

Finally this week I would like to ask for your help in ensuring a smooth end to the school day. As you know the school is situated in a dense residential area. This means we need to encourage our students to be particularly mindful of residents and local primary school children. As such can I please ask that you discuss with your child the following:

  • Ensuring that they do not gather in large groups on the pavements
  • That they move to the side to ensure that other pedestrians pass on pavements
  • They ensure that conversations are both appropriate in content and in volume

The above will ensure that we continue to build relationships with the community and ensure students understand how to behave as respectful citizens.

I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.

Mr A Jacobs
