Principal's Update - 18 October 2024
Posted 18th October 2024
Dear families
Firstly a huge thank you for your support this term. I regularly review our data and it is so pleasing to see hard work from families, students and staff resulting in significant improvements in attendance, behaviour and suspensions - a sincere thank you!
Our week this week at DUA has focused on respect and it is clear that students are increasingly living our values as is evidenced by that improvement in behaviour data suggests. We have also had a week of sporting resilience with various fixtures, but I would like to highlight our KS3 Badminton Team who played their first ever fixtures up at Leeds Grammar School. They had to dig deep playing against the more experienced opposition but they did us incredibly proud.
After half term we have our Year 11 Spanish speaking mocks beginning, students will all have an allotted time to attend. There are Year 11 revision sessions for all subjects over half-term so please do encourage attendance to those as we build to the mock examinations. In addition to the speaking exams we have sporting fixtures in football and netball. On Friday, we have Remembrance crafts at the Unity Community - I would love to see you all there. Finally, all week is KS3 review week. please ensure that you log in to school cloud: https://dixonsunityacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk/ and book your appointments to get that valuable (virtual) feedback from your child's teachers.
That's all for this week. Once again a huge thank you for all your support. I wish you a safe and restful holiday!
Mr A Jacobs
