Principal's Update - 13 December 2024

Posted 13th December 2024

Dear families

It's one week to go until our winter break and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in the first two terms of this year. We have seen drastic improvements across the academy as I have alluded to in previous updates and this simply wouldn't happen without your support. This is the last video update of 2024, I hope that you have enjoyed them and found them useful. We think we've done around 40 updates in total so far!

This week, 90 Year 7 and Year 8 students have been away in the Lake District having a fantastic time doing outdoor and adventurous activities. I have received brilliant feedback from staff, families, students and the centre themselves. We've also had a number of fixtures this week including in badminton and football. It was great to see so many families turn out of the Year 11 review evening, this was one of our best attended engagement events. Early in the new year we will be looking to gather your feedback on our family engagement events - what's worked, what hasn't etc. Feel free to drop a comment on to this video if you want to add your thoughts sooner.

We're finishing off the term strongly next week with a Year 10 and Year 11 netball fixture, Christmas dinner day and lots of celebrations -  festive jumper day, the platinum party and our attendance rewards event. As always at the end of term it will be a half day and as such students will begin to be dismissed from 12.30pm, please adjust pickups if required.

Finally, students will return to school on Monday 6 January 2025 at 8.18am - please ensure they are in full school uniform and fully equipped for the term ahead. In that first week, we are hosting our first recognition evening of the academic year - look out for invites!

I hope that you all have a great festive break and to those of you who celebrate - a very Merry Christmas. See you in 2025.

Mr A Jacobs
