Mental health support for families

Caring for a young person in times of difficulty can be emotionally draining and it is important that parents and carers look after their own mental and physical health.

Mindwell provide a directory of quick links to local and national services that support people’s mental health and wellbeing. Visit their website for more information.

What to do when a person is in crisis or has reached breaking point

There are a wide range of organisations who can help across Leeds:

This situation is daunting, but if you are worried that your child is at immediate risk or they have already made a suicide attempt or been seriously injured, please call 999 for emergency services or take them straight to A&E if you can. A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a physical one.

You will not be wasting anyone’s time or face judgement.
